High Wycombe– 25th February 2018
There was some fantastic intelligent rugby played today in great spirit. A big thank you goes to High Wycombe, great atmosphere, warm welcome coupled with good touch line banter a proper job all round. A good squad turnout for both teams leading to two full teams could be fielded for both teams (thanks again to HW for the loan of a couple of players). After a good warm up session and all the Banbury squad finally arrived. Delays down to the junction 4 Closure off the M40 or maybe the England/ Scotland match the night before. Three matches a piece were played against the Rouges and Rascal teams. The match reporter watched one squad but report of the other team game seemed on similar lines.

Banbury 2 vs High Wycombe- Final Score 2/0
A summary by one of the coaches “The boys off loading is going from strength to strength, rucking was much better than previous matches but still needs some work,” Scrumming and tuition on etiquettes around the scrum was key across the teams the shout of CROUCH / BIND and SET. Fin & Luke did some great tackles on the pitch and into touch a few of the players need to bring the tackles down again legs rather than high tackles being the way forward, also copying the England team with a no arm tackle is not the way forward hurting our team member in the process. The squads did some good set plays with the knock on advantage and drawing the players they just need to finish with a quicker pass. The Crash ball routine going deep and taking the ball at pace also came into the repertoire. Good ripping by Isaac and a fantastic run and wiggle by Bailey down the pitch and scoring another try were all standout moments of the day. The wildlife lead to a further angle with Dogs and Seagulls on the pitch however fortunately the scrambler bikes did not turn up - not great addition to a Sunday fun rugby game.
